History

BayCare Behavioral Health Care has been providing Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse services since 1971. BayCare offers a comprehensive continuum of care for children and adults including Crisis Stabilization, Emergency Crisis Response, Detoxification, Residential, Case Management, Outpatient, Psychiatric Services, In-home, Vocational, Supported Living, Therapeutic Foster Homes, Prevention and Outreach. Newly added to BayCare's continuum is Child Welfare Case Management. Currently, BayCare operates with a team of 645 staff, a budget of 32 million and 31 distinct locations throughout Pasco and Hernando counties.

BayCare has been a Medicaid provider since the inception of Community Mental Health services in the State of Florida. As a CARF accredited organization, BayCare remains in good standing with AHCA and DCF.

BayCare has been a corporation of the BayCare Health System, the 5th largest health care system in the United States, since 1998. BayCare Health system is comprised of 7 hospitals, Home Health, Primary Care and Community Mental Health (The Harbor) that services the Tampa Bay community.
