History
Founded in 1949 as the Guidance Center of Hillsborough County, Mental Health Care, Inc. (MHC) has evolved into one of the largest and most respected community based mental health facilities in Florida. MHC is a private, not for profit organization, governed by a community volunteer Board of Directors who offer their experience and expertise.

The US Internal Revenue Service has designated MHC as a 501 (c) (3) organization. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of HealthCare Organizations has awarded Mental Health Care, Inc. full accreditation since 1992.

To provide high quality, cost effective, mental health service to all residents of Hillsborough County encouraging and assisting them in achieving their maximum potential.
